The files are in the computer?
The Supreme Court today overturned the death sentence of a Pennsylvania man on the grounds that his lawyer did not gather enough information to present his case to the jury. Ronald Rompilla will get a new trial for his alleged murder and arson at an Allentown bar. In his appeal the SCOTUS, Rompilla claimed that the files that his lawyer should have presented to the jury--detailing his diagnosed mental illness and family history--were in the very same courthouse where his case was being heard. Does this mean more work for the already stretched-to-thin public defender's office? Justice Anthony Kennedy says "prolly."
