Blottered Theater

Boston Cops To Public: Choose Crack (a scene in one act)

The setting: Outside Boston's police HQ.
The characters: Two boys, dutifully making their way to school and Boston Police Commissioner Kathleen M. O'Toole.

Boy 1: Dude! Check out those sweet cars!
Boy 2: Whoa. Is that a Bentley? Holy shit, there's two Bentleys!
Boy 1: Yo, check out the rims on that one-- those are wicked! I bet they cost, like, thousands of bucks.
Boy 2: Yeah-- each, dude. Each! And check out that Escalade! Tinted windows, custom grill. Ooooh I bet the sound system is sweet!
Boy 1: Aw, and the BMW ain't bad either, yo. What is all this, dude? Is, like, Puffy in town or some such shit?
Commissioner O'Toole: (To the press.) ...And here you see the spoils of the misdeeds of these men. Selling crack can get you some serious bling.
Boy 1: Did she say 'selling crack?'
Boy 2: I think she did. Man, I thought crack was a ghetto drug. Those ain't no ghetto rides!
O'Toole: Crime pays, but only temporarily.
Boy 2: You heard her man, crime pays.
Boy 1: Fuck school. Let's go find some crack.
